Location of classes
Boys make a seamless transition through three stages of schooling at the Early Learning Centre, Preparatory School and Senior School.
Early Learning Centre - Transition, Kindergarten and Year 1
Mansion Road, Bellevue Hill
The first stage takes place in Foreland House and Horsham House, the home of the specialist Early Learning Centre (ELC) for four, five and six year olds.
Junior Years, Prep - Years 2 to 4
Mansion Road, Bellevue Hill
The Main Building is home for boys in Years 2 to 4. Currently there are three classes in each Year and around 24 boys in each class. Mansion House is the home for boys in Years 3 to 4. Here there are three classes in each Year and around 24 boys in each class. Years 3 and 5 are traditional entry points.
Middle Years, Prep - Years 5 to 6
Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill
Boys enjoy the significant benefits of a transition year in classrooms next to Fairfax House and its grounds. There are four classes in each year. They have access to Senior School facilities and staff and maintain contact with younger boys and the Prep staff through visits for House meetings and leadership activities. Year 5 is an entry year for boys.
The School has an important multicultural and international dimension to its life, with boys often arriving from overseas to take up places. The buddy system and orientation visits smooth the way for newcomers, and special assessments enable boys to be placed in classes and groups that enable them to build strongly on their existing skills. After their life at the Preparatory School, it is usual for all boys to be provided a place in Year 7 at the Senior School.
Senior School, Years 7 to 12
The Senior School is where the Preparatory School groundwork for academic achievement and striving for excellence comes to fruition as students move into top gear towards the NSW Higher School Certificate. Complementing the College's academic system is the boys' pastoral care with each boy being allocated to a House. Housemasters and Tutors come to know the interests and capabilities of the boys in their charge and hold regular House and daily Tutor meetings.
Boys are introduced to the complexities of secondary education - a wider range of subjects, timetabling, specialised staff and 'department areas' and the move from class-based pastoral care to Year group and Houses. Year 9 continues this development and includes the Glengarry country campus two-term program.
Years 10, 11 and 12 are the vital years leading to the transition to tertiary education. The College offers a full range of academic subjects and a range of Vocational Education and Training courses.
