Scots boys Callan McAuliffe and Luke Bracey have made headlines with their debut on the prestigious silver screen.

Callan and Luke have made their mark, not only gaining National acclaim for their performances, but both are now entering a level of international fame.

Callan, a Year 10 student at the College, never showed an interest in drama until an unfortunate knee injury prevented him from taking part in sport. Callan took up drama and discovered his talent in theatre. He was cast by Director Rob Reiner for the lead role of 'Bryce' in the Romantic Comedy Flipped in 2009 and soon after won the Lead in the short film Franswa Sharl, which saw Callan enjoy
a win at The Berlinale Film Festival in February of this year. Shortly after his first success, Callan was cast as the teenaged 'Quick Lamb' in Cloudstreet , one of the
biggest miniseries funded and filmed in Australia in decades. Based on the highest selling Novel in Australian history by Tim Winton, Cloudstreet is a multi-million dollar production boasting an ensemble of top acting talent from around Australia.

Callan, who also made recurring appearances on Packed to the Rafters, Bluewater High and Comedy Inc, and has joined a high profile US campaign against drug use, looks forward to the release of Flipped in September.

Luke, a recent Scots Old Boy '07, seized every opportunity to entertain, perform and mentor younger students in Year 11 and 12. Luke auditioned for the role of troubled teen 'Trey Palmer' in the long running soap opera Home and Away. Luke won the role and his 15 week contract was soon extended to 6 months.

"The Scots College offered Luke a plethora of activities and support, both in the classroom, on the sports field and in drama. We are thrilled to be representing this talented young performer and we can't wait to see what the future brings for him," said a spokesperson for Mark Morrissey & Associates, Luke's agent.

From this national debut came the opportunity for the silver screen. Luke was cast as a love interest in a star studded Romantic Comedy Monte Carlo due for release in February 2011, and started filming in Budapest in May. Starring alongside teen stars, Leighton Meester and Selena Gomez, Luke will be directed by Tom Bezucha, with Nicole Kidman, Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan producing the film for 20th Century Fox and New Regency Productions. The film is loosely based on the novel Headhunters by Jules Bass.

"We are proud of what these fine young men have achieved by harnessing their talent and setting their mind on their dreams. They are role models of brave hearts and bold minds for boys who wish to follow in their footsteps," said Dr Ian Lambert, Principal of The Scots College.
